PowerXND 2000 Lab Test

Following is summary of test results by an Imatest certified lab (irentals.cn). They test four ND filters:

  • Aurora Aperture PowerXND 2000 (ND 16 – 2000)
  • Brand B variable ND (ND 4 – 400)
  • Brand H variable ND (ND 4 – 400)
  • Brand H round glass ND 1000 (ND 1000)

First is an MTF 50 resolution test. In this test the baseline for the test camera and lens combination is established as 2794 LWPH. For each variable ND filters they test three ND settings: MIN, 6.5 stops, and MAX. As seen in the report, the Aurora PowerXND 2000 achieves highest score across all ND settings, even slightly ahead of the Brand H fixed ND 1000 filter.

Next is color check. A summary of the test result is shown here. All variable filters are tested in MIN setting. Again, the Aurora PowerXND 2000 achieves highest color accuracy result.
